My aviation journey began in 2007 when our older son took his first demo flight, here at EFI. During his lessons, I joined when I could and over time, fell in love with flying. Once his career was launched, I pulled the plug and got my ticket. Before long, it was evident that becoming a CFI would allow me to merge my two passions: flying and teaching. I have been a teacher, mostly at the middle school level, since 2001. I have a BA in Liberal Studies, Supplemental Math Authorization, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. For flight, I believe safety is paramount, a deep understanding of the content is essential, and having fun is a must! My teaching style is positive and relaxed, yet structured with specific learning goals. Content is delivered utilizing strategies geared towards unique and individual learning styles. Presently, I am working towards my CFI-I and starting an Aviation Explorer Program for our youth. My intent is to remain a Flight Instructor well beyond my retirement from the classroom…but I have some time before that happens. My husband and I have two awesome sons, both of whom fly.
